As the social media campaign manager for Delineo, I’m responsible for planning and managing the social media offering of the company. I’ve been here for nearly two years and, during that time, I’ve had the pleasure of working on a number of fantastic campaigns for some excellent clients.


What do I like about social media?

I discover so much more through social media than I would do through my regular bookmarks. It’s a tool that gives you the opportunity to find new things, come across new ideas and, in an instant, harvest the collective mind for a problem that may have stumped you for an entire day. It’s also, on occasion, very funny.


There’s a special place in social media purgatory  for those companies which just use social to promote their own products or services. This fate also awaits those individuals on Twitter who repeatedly retweet compliments they receive from other users.


I read a great quote from Douglas Adams recently:

“Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works. Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it. Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things.”

My tips? Don’t be scared of new things, embrace new sites and discover new ways of doing things.


Mobile, if it isn’t already. Over 50 per cent of the UK now own a smartphone and, as that number continues to rise, more brands are going to start focusing their attention on the walking audience. Mobile marketing, whether through augmented reality, NFC or apps, is going to play a bigger part in the coming years.
