British Airways are launching a campaign tomorrow, Thursday 19th September,to see if one of their flights can beat a virtual plane.
The company are asking fans to tweet the hashtag #RaceThePlane from 12:15pm to power the virtual ‘Tweetliner’ as it races one of their London to Toronto flights. There are flight tickets available for fans to win and another competition will take place on the 24th. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the airlines’ new 787 Dreamliner planes.
It will be interesting to see how this competition actually works as there is little information on the microsite except the option to add a reminder to your social calenders. The assumption is that they work out how long it takes the hashtag to be tweeted from a handle in one location to another with the same distance between them as London and Toronto – but how will this be decided?
