Last Week’s Clever Campaigns – The Best of Bendgate

Instead of our usual weekly round-up of campaigns we bring you the best of the #bendgate reactions from all across the web.

We think it’s fair to say that last week wasn’t the best week for Apple after reports that their newly released iPhone 6 Plus was bending in people’s pockets, but while they despaired, both brands and internet users alike couldn’t resist making fun of the tech giants.

With countless lawsuits between the two companies over the years, Samsung were among the first to capitalize on the troubles of their major rival’s misfortune. They quickly pulled together a poster showing the iPhone bowing down to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with the caption “Bend to those who are worthy.” Well played, Samsung.

American beer company Miller Lite also joined in the fun, highlighting that a bend in their cans is actually a desirable trait whilst pointing out that “It doesn’t work for everybody.”

But the winners by a long shot were Kit Kat with their simple but inspired “We don’t bend, we #break.” tweet, complete with diagram.

And then there were the rest…

So while it was a sorry few days for apple (even though their honest, fact-driven response helped them largely save face) it was a joyous time for the rest of the internet.
