What we can expect from the Facebook Marketing Conference

I have mainly focused on the change over of brand Pages, as I think this is the biggest announcement.

Yeah, there’s been a lot of speculation regarding the revamp so this is my best guess at what might happen. I will however give you a full update tomorrow, once the conference is over. So stay tuned for these exciting developments.

The best indicator of Facebook’s brand Page improvements are usually derived from profile pages. When Facebook overhauled personal profiles in 2010, brand Pages were soon to follow, in the very same style. I expect this to be very similar, where Facebook have rolled out Timeline to its users, and it is fully expected that they will replicate the Timeline’s aesthetic to brand Pages.

It is pretty certain the new Page design will have the attractive large cover image and it’s likely that apps will be displayed in ‘boxes’ at the top right of the Timeline design, similar to the personal Timelines. If you want to get a cover photo ready the dimensions are 850 pixels x 315 pixels. The biggest question that I am wondering is how a fan-gate is going to be incorporated into the new style.

Faster Insights

I think the main announcement and explanation for the faster insights will come this afternoon even though there have been multiple articles on this over the weekend. If you haven’t hear, what is going to happen is that instead of having to wait several days (48 hours) for insights, Facebook is attempting to make insights real time. This will be a great benefit to anyone with a fan Page as you’ll be able to see the reach and ‘People Talking About’ a post, right there and then.

Changes to Facebook Ads

On Thursday, we covered all of the changes that are going to happen to Facebook ads, the full blog post can be read here. Basically, there are a few key areas that are going to change:

4.Mobile Ads

5.Open Graph/Action Ads

The New Facebook Deals

You may remember last year Facebook played around with daily deals. Well we’ve noticed that they have been dabbling in deals again! Unlike other deals sites that rely on emails to send you your daily deals, these are going to be appearing right there within your news feed. The beauty of this format is that all the information appears within the news feed, and you don’t need to click through to another page to claim the deal. One click and the deal is yours.
